INTERNATIONAL Conference RESILIENCE OF CRITICAL infrastructure
International conference resilience of critical infrastructure
The topics covered by the conference, among others, were: war conflicts, hybrid threats and critical infrastructure protection: Opportunities, obstacles and open issues, the cyber dimension of critical infrastructure protection, public-private partnership as a basis for strengthening resilience and critical infrastructure protection, strategic and normative approaches to strengthening resilience and protection of critical infrastructure and a comprehensive approach of the entire society in the protection of critical infrastructure.
Marko showed the participants a pragmatic approach to securing critical infrastructure using the G4S Security Risk Management model, which includes the identification of protected values (prioritization of property values); risk identification (ranking of threats and classification of perpetrators; their potential impact and possible consequences); then the correct definition of security measures and solutions for mitigating/removing risks by applying integrated solutions based on an adequate combination of people, technique and technology - and on real examples of protection of telecommunications infrastructure and wind farms.
Marko says:
The essence is to change the traditional "guards & guns & gates" access - we are witnessing how threats evolve to find holes in the security concept. When faced with a classic "break and steal" problem with perpetrators who know the workings of non-integrated, traditional security methods (like physical security) and their weaknesses, why would you pick a battle you can't win? "Traditional" perpetrators are unable to understand and counter advanced solutions that combine people and technology - especially when the technology comes from the IoT world. That's why we believe that our Security-of-Things will make a difference and lead to a change in approach to security.
