The facilities in which we deliver our healthcare services hold remand and sentenced offenders, with sentences spanning from a few weeks to life.

We provide a range of high quality primary care services to over 7,000 offenders and detainees in our care across ten prisons, three Immigration Removal Centres (IRCs) and a Secure Training Centre (STC) on behalf of NHS commissioners. Patients receiving treatment in these establishments include females, males, juvenile offenders, young offenders, elderly prisoners and black, minority and ethnic groups, and we have significant experience with those offenders who are from socially excluded groups. Many of our patients are highly vulnerable, have had little or no contact with healthcare services before entering the criminal justice system, and may have multiple health conditions that have never been treated before.

We work with relevant stakeholders to protect and promote the interests and rights of people who use health and social care services in secure settings.

Operating Primary Health services within HMP Altcourse since January 2012, HMP & YOI Parc since November 2011, HMP Rye Hill since December 2011, Oakhill Secure Training Centre since October 2012, Gatwick IRC cluster and Yarl’s Wood IRC since September 2014. Our services include GP and nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, optometry, podiatry, physiotherapy, mental health, substance misuse and sexual health.

Operating within the NE Prisons (HMP Northumberland, HMP Frankland, HMP Durham, HMP & YOI Low Newton, HMYOI Deerbolt, HMP Kirklevington Grange and HMP Holme House) since 2015. Our services include Community Services (Primary Care Nursing, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Sexual Health, Bed Watch financial responsibility and Clinical Substance Misuse) and Support Services (Administration, IT, Performance Management, IT training, Portering and Waste).
