The team was named overall winner in the Partners in Cleaning (public buildings) category for outstanding work to improve cleaning standards at the 970-bed acute hospital.  The ceremony was attended by more than 630 FM industry professionals at a glittering event held at The Brewery in central London on Wednesday 2nd November.

The G4S FM team was up against tough competition in the final round of the PFM Awards, including Emprise with the National Theatre and Mitie Clean Environments with Birmingham Airport.

Working together with City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust since 2011, G4S FM has made innovative changes to its cleaning service, from engaging with infection control and clinical staff, to a strong focus on training and staff engagement, as well as improving cleaning scheduling across wards.  It is a leading example of successful partnership working, enabling a services provider to improve services in a secure and critical environment, supporting infection control and minimising risk.

Helen Moreland, Operations Director Health, G4S FM said “I’m so incredibly proud of the entire team and feel professionally we have set the standard. The dedicated team has helped the Trust improve standards and unlock efficiencies, as well as enhance the patient experience.”

Larry Stores, Head of Facilities at City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust added “The G4S FM and internal Sunderland Royal Hospital team have changed the way the domestic service is delivered, which has enhanced patient care and raised standards. Their innovation has not gone unnoticed and this national award is very well deserved.”
