Patel, a student from Banbury-Bicester College, took part in G4S FM’s student placement scheme where he undertook placements in different departments at G4S FM’s head office in Banbury two days a week, as part of his BTEC extended diploma in Business studies. These included HR, finance, technical services and business development.  He scored 100 per cent in his final papers with the College, confirming his place at Exeter.  As a result of his hard work, positivity and enthusiastic approach, Patel was selected for corporate sponsorship on his three-year Business Degree, which he began in September. This is the first time G4S FM has sponsored a university student in this way.

Patel said, “The first-hand knowledge I was able to gain at G4S FM was later applied to the modules I was undertaking at college. I certainly credit the experience for helping me to achieve the top grade in my modules. Although I have only been at University for a short while, I truly believe that real business experience is key in becoming a unique candidate for a job role upon graduation.

“I feel extremely lucky to be in this position and am looking forward to getting back into the G4S FM office environment and enhancing my studies.”

In addition to supporting Patel with the cost of tuition fees, G4S FM will provide paid and structured work experience for five weeks per year, which will give him insight into a range of business functions. A mentor will be offered throughout his three years at university and his final year dissertation will be linked to G4S FM’s business needs. Following graduation, Patel will have the opportunity to apply for the G4S FM Graduate Programme, which has been launched this year.
