Friends and colleagues pay tribute to Ronnie Jessiman - “an outstanding individual” - as his family lays him to rest.

The funeral of G4S Close Protection Officer and former Corporal from 5 Scots Regiment, Ronnie Jessiman takes place today in Glasgow.
Ronnie was killed on 27 November when a suicide vehicle borne IED was detonated, targeting a British Embassy vehicle moving through the city of Kabul.
Ronnie (aged 33) was born in London and joined the British Army in 1998, at age 17, when he joined the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. In 2007, Ronnie transferred to 5 Scots, Support Company, Fire Support Group and had two deployments to Afghanistan as part of Operation Herrick.
Ronnie left the British Army in November 2012 and joined G4S in January 2013 as a Close Protection Officer supporting the FCO contract protecting the British Embassy in Kabul.
Ronnie was married in August this year and lived in Canterbury with his wife Natalie. Ronnie was the son of a Scottish serviceman who lives with his family in Glasgow.
G4S Chief Executive Officer, Ashley Almanza, said:

Fellow Close Protection Officer, G4S Kabul - Ronnie was a true gentleman and a very professional Close Protection operator with an infectious smile, always there to offer advice or to help others when it was needed. He will be fondly remembered, but sadly missed.
Close Protection Team Leader, G4S Kabul – Ronnie was a no-nonsense type of bloke, small in stature but big in personality. He was a true professional in everything he did and achieved. Ronnie was the glue that held the team together with his sharp wit. It was an honour to have met and worked with Ronnie and to call him my friend. He will be sadly missed.
