G4S to provide security, stewarding and support for Isle of Man TT Races
G4S, Isle of Man

G4S has been awarded a three-year contract with the Isle of Man Government to provide security, stewarding and support services for the world-famous TT Races.

The contract with the Department of Economic Development, which oversees the annual motorcycle races and the Festival of Motorcycling, includes a variety of services, not only the usual event security and stewarding services, for which G4S is best-known, but also cleaning, full management of the race paddock, car park management and support services, as well as guarding the famous TT trophies, which are kept in the company’s vaults throughout the year.

The races start in the last week of May, lasting for two weeks, but planning for the event begins as early as January, in preparation for the estimated 65,000 visitors, motorcyclists and competitors who will descend upon the island each summer.

Stuart McCudden, Managing Director of G4S in the Isle of Man, said:

“For over 20 years G4S has established its credentials as an expert in providing essential support for motorsport and managing large-scale sporting events. Alongside Silverstone and Formula 1, TT is the most prestigious motorsports event we have the pleasure to work on, and we’re delighted the Isle of Man has once again asked us to help to make this fantastic event possible.”

Trevor Hussey, TT and Motorsport Development Director, Isle of Man Government Department of Economic Development, said:

“ G4S will play a critical role in the successful delivery of the TT Races. The company has already operated the contract to a high standard and they have demonstrated the level of professionalism and expertise to date that we require for a world-class sporting event. “

As well as the TT Races, the contract includes the Festival of Motorcycling, which takes place over the last two weeks of August. In total, more than 100 G4S personnel will be working on both events, which will see the island’s population swell by 55,000 visitors.

  • The Isle of Man TT (Tourist Trophy) Races are motorcycle road races which have been held since 1907. The 37-mile Mountain Course is one of the most challenging in the world, attracting thousands of spectators every May and June.
