G4S launches Steps4Health

G4S launches Steps4Health programme in bid to encourage healthier lifestyles
G4S, health

G4S FM has launched its nutrition, health and wellbeing programme Steps4Health across its in-house catering operations.

At the heart of the programme is G4S’ commitment to adopt emerging Government initiatives on food, health and nutrition and encourage consumers to eat well and achieve a healthier lifestyle.

Steps4Health has been specially developed to provide FM customer sites with balanced, healthier menu choices and easy access to clear nutritional information. The programme also includes education and training for catering staff on basic nutrition, healthier cooking practices and menu planning.

G4S FM catering outlets, including its recently launched Quattro restaurant concepts, now feature new healthier choice menu options from the Steps4Health recipe manual, developed exclusively for G4S chefs. A consumer Health and Wellbeing Information board provides detailed nutritional information on the dishes on offer in a GDA format and table talkers and consumer education leaflets also promote simple facts on balanced diets, 5-a-day and tips on eating well.

The initiative is part of G4S ongoing work to evolve its in-house catering expertise, enabling the company to self-deliver catering on many of its FM contracts across secure and critical environments. The G4S project team is now working to roll out Steps4Health to Deli Quattro and Cafe Quattro catering solutions.

Sadaf Saied, Head of Dietetics at G4S said: “Steps4Health recognises our commitment to providing nutritionally balanced food and clear and easy to understand nutrition information, so that consumers can make an informed choice.

“As a responsible catering operator we are supporting the Government’s drive to improve public health by promoting healthy eating and encouraging people to take simple steps towards a healthier lifestyle.”
