Not only was Beaumont Leys voted Best School but it also scooped the top prize; the Grand Prix Award for Best Overall BSF project.  A further School within our Leicester BSF programme, Soar Valley College, was also short listed for Best Use of Outside Space and Innovation in PE & Sport.

As part of the Leicester Miller Education Company for the Leicester BSF contract, G4S Integrated Services, which specialises in providing integrated facilities management and specialist support services in critical environments, provides a wide range of facilities management services to Beaumont Leys School. These services include: caretaking, cleaning, grounds maintenance, security, energy and utilities, health and safety, routine and reactive maintenance and lifecycle in support of the Government’s educational reform agenda under the BSF initiative. G4S already provides facilities management and lifecycle services to 29 schools across the UK.

Officially opened in June of this year by the Minister for Schools Vernon Coaker MP, Beaumont Leys School is one of four schools within the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) £235 million improvement programme for Leicester.

Chris Elliott, Group Managing Director G4S Integrated Services, commented: “As one of the key partners on the BSF project, G4S Integrated Services plays an integral role in the lifecycle operation of the school. We are very please to be part of this successful project and see these awards as a real achievement given that the school only officially opened its doors in April!”

Picking up the award from compère for the night, comedian Dara O’Briain, Liz Logie head teacher of Beaumont Leys commented :“To be awarded the Grand Prix Award for overall best BSF project is a phenomenal achievement, testament to the hard work all the partners concerned have invested in this project. This award effectively places us as the best school out of 131 in the BSF portfolio of schools, something all concerned can be really proud of.”

Tim Byles, Chief Executive of Partnerships for Schools and Chair of the Excellence in BSF Awards judging panel, said “From all of this year’s BSF awards, one project stood out for a number of reasons. Beaumont Leys opened six weeks ahead of schedule, thanks to the strong relationship developed over many months between the school leadership team, the local authority and the private sector partner, but the real difference - which I am delighted to have seen for myself - is in the attitude, self-esteem and motivation of the pupils after moving into their new school in April.”
