Apprenticeships at G4S
Our goal is to support our employees to develop their capabilities at every stage of their career and we want our employees to progress within G4S. Apprenticeships present an opportunity to improve the capabilities and diversity of our workforce, by providing people from all backgrounds the opportunity to develop their skills and progress their careers with us.
Since changes to apprenticeships were introduced in 2017, G4S has looked at opportunities to utilise the levy and maximise apprenticeship take up. Working in partnership with several of the country’s top universities and training providers, we offer a series of management and leadership programmes to develop junior, middle and senior managers. We offer management programmes ranging from Level 3 to Master Degree level. A Future Leaders Graduate scheme, aligned to a leadership apprenticeship has been developed to help G4S attract leaders of the future.
As an organisation with many operational businesses, we have aligned internal training programmes with apprenticeships to professionalise and develop our employee’s capabilities even further. We work with Total People Ltd to deliver the custody and detention officer apprenticeship, which was launched in 2019 and supports new prison officers during the first twelve months of their custodial career.
The G4S Security First Line Manager programme (aligned to the L3 Security FLM apprenticeship) provides an opportunity for employees to develop knowledge, application, skills, experience and behaviours required to supervise security personnel and manage site security in line with regulatory requirements. The Trainee Driver programme develops employees to become specialist Drivers and be responsible for making scheduled cash deliveries and collections.
G4S apprenticeships give everyone an opportunity to have a career at G4S; one where they will be encouraged, challenged and supported every step of the way.
