Custodial Services

Every day, G4S works with thousands of sentenced and remand inmates in Australia’s maximum, medium and minimum-security correctional facilities. For over 20 years, we have provided full operational management and maintenance of Mount Gambier Prison in South Australia and Port Phillip Prison in Victoria. G4S also provides security services at Long Bay Forensic Hospital in NSW, at the Maribyrnong Community Residential Facility in Victoria and at Parkville and Malmsbury Youth Justice Centres in Victoria.

Our approach to offender rehabilitation involves a 360-degree view. From committing the initial offence through to court processes, incarceration and release back into the community, we consider every step of the journey. Wherever relevant, we seek safer alternatives to custodial punishment and carefully consider ways to ensure the offender is supported - in prison and out - to reduce the likelihood of re-offending.

Within the prisons we operate, our focus is sustainable rehabilitation and reintegration. Drawing on our global justice experience, our local knowledge and expert network of partners, G4S solutions are designed to mitigate risk whilst meeting the complex needs of prisoner management, crime prevention and community safety. Ensuring we equip offenders with the real-life tools and education they need when re-entering society is at the forefront of everything we do.

Our Custodial Services include:

  • Prison management
  • Transport and escorts
  • Electronic monitoring
  • Youth justice
  • Custody centre management
  • Forensic security
  • Rehabilitation and reintegration programs and support services

We are committed to reducing re-offending through the provision of decent, respectful and positive environments that actively encourage rehabilitation. G4S staff and custodial services are guided by best practices in human rights and underpinned by the United Nations Treatment of Prisoners.
